Welcome!

How has your day been? The weather's nice, isn't it? Either way, please come in. The door hinge is a bit squeaky. Don't mind the toys, the mess, I'll turn the lights on, are you thirsty?

Michael
Aug 31st 2021 - I can't believe it, almost, for it to have been this long since we've met.

Michael likes to read, to talk, to look after the home, and clutter that same home with ceramics. Most of the space so intricate and so lived-in it feels like my Grandma's (Can't complain though. It's cozy.)
Something he is very good at is making the day so incredibly fun for both himself and Riley. He's tuned to make the best of it. Every day before bed I get to hear a lengthy report about how oh-so-fun it has been! And I would never have it any other way, never-ever.
He's a little flat in tone, coarse with his words too, but he's warm. He doesn't mind, not a lot of things.
My favorite thing: When he takes off his earrings before bed. And his necklace. And the rest of the beautiful-golden clutter so shyly hidden behind his long-white hair.
His favorite thing: Fabrics, intricate embroidery. If we had the time, he'd spend the whole day looking at careful carvings and old wall art. His closet is almost exclusively long silky robes with embroidered seams. He appears porcelain.

Riley
Feb 19 2023 - My sweet light.

Riley likes a lot of things. He likes trains, legos, polar bears, wolves, drawing, going outside, drawing some more, doing small crafts, (you can probably imagine that neither the fridge nor the bedside table can hold it much at this point.)
He really likes to braid his pretty long black curls. We have dozens of colorful little ribbons to protect the strands from hiding him & hiding the world from him. I can't say enough how lucky it feels to have him rush up and ask... & here I would say to help get his hair done, but I am lucky to have him be here, full stop. I can't for a day understand what I have even been doing without him.
Something he is good at is making me smile. Smile so-very-wide. And that's enough, really.
My favorite thing: Saying goodnight. Every time I find a bit of him in me.
His favorite thing: Long detailed traintracks. Wooden, legos, he'll go as far as to build a whole city around it just to watch the ups and downs.

Us

We live in a large house a bit outcast from everybody else. It takes a bit longer to travel out and meet up, but not a problem kind of longer. There are 4 bedrooms (ours, Riley's own, two spares), a large elipsed kitchen, and a pretty view out the window to appreciate, often snowy. I'm more often found in the bedroom. Riley loves either the living room carpet or couch or somewhere under the table, and Michael is just about anywhere, flickering. The walls are brick, sturdily chipped and sunwashed, the porch has a shy light on it, the windows are lined a white mite-bitten wood, and the curtains are a thick ornate sequin-encrusted light yellow, almost always halfway drawn. Can you see it yet?

It's been a long way here, but what's here right now is happy and perfect, in a way, even if not perfect in numbers or graphs or any other nerdy order. What else is to be asked for? I could not be more grateful for the two Angels in my life, & hopefully you're excited to meet them too, because I know I'm meeting them every day, and every day I am excited for tomorrow.

Any questions through e-mail in index welcome. We're still working on this (and, you know, this could've been graced with some photos if it was possible), but you don't have to make do with short biographies, not at all.
